Strength Tarot Card: Meaning, Love, Career and Yes or No
Strength is card eight in the Rider–Waite deck, and it's about quiet inner power rather than muscle. It's the card of patience, courage and taming your own fears and impulses. Here's its meaning in love, work, money and reversed.
Symbolism
A woman in white calmly closes, or perhaps strokes, a lion's jaws. She carries no weapon and doesn't fight; her touch is gentle. She wears a crown of flowers and a belt of roses, with an infinity sign above her head, like the Magician. The lion is instinct: anger, passion, fear. The woman is awareness that doesn't crush these forces but tames them with love and patience.
In the Rider–Waite deck Strength is number eight and Justice eleven; the Marseille tradition reverses them. Eight is balance, and turned on its side it becomes the infinity sign she wears.
Upright meaning
Upright, you have enough courage to handle the situation, but gentleness works better than force. Don't push or argue until someone breaks; hold steady, negotiate, keep your cool. This is the person who can defuse a fight with one calm sentence.
Say you're preparing for a tough talk with your boss or a loved one and worry about losing your temper. Strength reminds you that power lies in steadiness, not volume. Know what matters to say, breathe, listen. It also speaks of self-acceptance: treating your weaknesses with understanding rather than waging war on them.
Reversed meaning
Reversed, the lion has either broken loose or been locked in a cage. Loose: anger flares, impulsiveness, actions you regret. Caged: suppressed emotions, insecurity, a sense of “I can't cope,” dependence on approval.
It can also mean exhaustion after holding on too long. That isn't weakness; it's a signal to recover. The question: which part of you have you silenced, or handed all the power to?

Open @Aura_CodeBotLove & relationships
In love Strength describes a mature, warm bond with passion but no power struggle. Partners are patient with each other and weather difficulties without losing closeness. For singles, your calm confidence is especially attractive; a connection may start slowly but run deep.
Reversed, it warns of jealousy, a short fuse, emotional rollercoasters or one partner dominating the other, or insecurity that makes you tolerate what you shouldn't.
Career & money
At work Strength means resilience under pressure, with difficult clients and hard tasks. It favors gentle leaders, teachers, therapists, coaches and anyone working with people or animals. Financially, patience and consistency beat sudden moves.
Reversed: emotional money decisions, burnout, workplace friction or doubting your own competence.
Yes or no?
Yes. Strength gives a confident yes, particularly when the situation calls for patience and courage. Results come through calm persistence, not pressure. Reversed, it's not yet: find your balance first.
The card's advice
